Feed Application
Social news feed built on the outbox pattern and Kafka fan-out-on-write. Posts save atomically with an outbox row, a poller relays them to Kafka, and scalable workers push IDs into per-user Redis feeds. Stack: Next.js, REST API with JWT, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka (KRaft), nginx. Dockerized, deployed behind Traefik with auto-HTTPS.
Notification System
Multi-channel notification system built on RabbitMQ. An Express API accepts events and fans each one out to push and email queues; independent workers consume them, with Redis-backed idempotency and claim-lease toggles to prevent duplicate sends after crashes and redelivery. Next.js dashboard fires failure scenarios. Dockerized, behind Traefik.
Rate Limiter
Distributed rate limiter demo. nginx round-robins requests across limiter replicas that enforce a configurable limit (algorithm, rate, window) using shared Redis counters, with selectable fail-open or fail-closed behavior. A dashboard lets you start and stop replicas to show why local counters break at scale. Dockerized.
URL Shortner
URL shortener built for a read-heavy workload. A Node.js backend stores short-code mappings in PostgreSQL and serves redirects through a Redis cache, with the cache and the 301/302 redirect status switchable by config to compare their effect on load and analytics. Next.js frontend, Dockerized, deployed behind Traefik with auto-HTTPS.
